Samsung Expects 79.8% Profits Increase In Q3

Samsung is still the number one smartphone OEM on the planet, but the company’s profits haven’t exactly been on the rise for quite some time now. That’s what made Samsung re-think their policy, and release an all-metal Galaxy S6 devices. This design language is fairly different than what we used to see from this Korea-based tech giant, and is certainly a welcomed one. That being said, Samsung has been hoping their new policy will make their profits rise once again. Speaking of which, Samsung has released their quarterly guidance report today, read on.

In the guidance report, the company estimates that they made an operating profit of 7.3 trillion won ($6.29 billion) from July to September this year. Now, if this estimate is accurate, that would mean that Samsung’s profits rose 79.8% compared to the same period last year, which means that they’re on the right path once again, because last year wasn’t exactly immensely successful for Samsung. The company expects mobile division’s operating profit to be 2.2 trillion won ($1.8 billion), which would represent a first year-on-year increased in over seven quarters. The mobile sales come to around 27 trillion won, while the overall sales are said to be near the 51 trillion won ($41.5 billion) mark, which represents a 7.5% increase compared to Q3 2014. Samsung’s semiconductor division is also on the right path, the company estimates they earned 3.5 trillion won ($3 billion) here, which represents a year-on-year increase of 54%.

That’s pretty much it. Keep in mind that these are only Samsung’s estimates, the exact figures will be revealed later this month. Now, these estimates are usually somewhat accurate, so don’t expect to see that many changes when final sales figures arrive. It seems like Samsung has been doing really well in Q3, and that their smartphone sales are getting back on the right path, but there’s still room for improvement. The Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus handsets certainly had a significant influence on Samsung’s smartphone sales this year. All of those devices are Samsung’s flagship offerings, and are compelling devices, that’s for sure. It will be interesting to see what Samsung has in store for us next year, we’ve seen quite a few leaks thus far, and the company has also filed for a number of interesting patents along the way.
