Samsung has announced quite a few smartwatches thus far. They have smartwatches that run on both Android Wear and Tizen platforms, though the latter one is developed by Samsung and they’re trying to push that as hard as they can, especially in the wearables department. That being said, the company’s latest Tizen-powered smartwatch is the Gear S2. This Korea-based company has announced this smartwatch during IFA in Berlin, and it seems like they’ve managed to impress quite a few people with it. The Gear S2 offers kind of interesting and extremely useful crown navigation, which makes it quite appealing, not to mention that it runs really smooth.
That being said, we have some new info regarding Gear S2 sales some of you might be interested in, read on. The Samsung Gear S2 is the second-gen Gear S smartwatch, as its name suggests. Well, it seems like this smartwatch is selling far better than its predecessor, 100% better actually, at least in Korea. According to the latest report, Samsung has been selling 2,000 units of Gear S2 a day, on average, which means that its sales are booming compared to its predecessor. The 3G model of this watch accounts for 50% of these sales, and the other half is filled with Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic models. Furthermore, this report claims that the Gear S2 Classic models have been in such high demand that Samsung is having shortages and is in a hurry to manufacture more of them.
All in all, it seems like the Gear S2 has been accepted really well by the public, which isn’t all that surprising, it’s a very compelling offering by Samsung. This smartwatch is far from perfect though, Tizen OS runs really well, but its lack of available apps is concerning, especially when compared to the likes of the Apple Watch and a number of Android Wear-powered offerings out there. It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming months, and whether or not Samsung plans to introduce an Android Wear-powered version of the Gear S2. We haven’t heard anything of the sort thus far, but that would certainly be interesting. Either way, stay tuned for more info.
