Top 10 Best Android Indian Smartphones – September 2015 Edition

India is currently the fastest growing smartphone market in the world, and has been that way for a while now. This is, at the same time, the second largest smartphone market in the world. That being said, many smartphone OEMs are pushing their products to India considering how many potential they see in it, which gives Indian consumers lots to choose from in terms of smartphones. We’re here to take a look at the top 10 smartphones currently available in India, in our opinion, of course. We did a list just like this back in July, and you’ll notice that quite a few things changed since then, which only means we’ve seen a number of compelling devices released in the meantime.

10. Yu Yunique

YU’s Yunique smartphone is an entry-level device, and it deserved a place on this list mainly because of its price point. This device costs only Rs. 4,999 ($76) in India, which makes it one of the best sub-$100 phones you can buy in the country. This smartphone features a 4.7-inch 720p display, 1GB of RAM and is powered by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor. The 8-megapixel rear-facing shooter is also a part of this package, and the device ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed, and Cyanogen OS is available on top of Google’s OS.

9. InFocus M812

The InFocus M812 is yet another mid to high-end options for those of you who live in India. This smartphone sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 801 SoC, which is still more than a capable processor. The 2,900mAh battery is available on the inside, and a 13-megapixel shooter is located on the back of this phone. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes out of the box here, and the phone is made out of anodized aluminum. The InFocus M812 costs Rs. 19,999 ($313) in India.

8. Asus ZenFone 2

Asus ZenFone 2 was announced back in January this year, and has launched in a number of different variants. We’re talking about a 4GB variant here, which is a really solid smartphone, and it doesn’t cost much at all. The highest-end ZenFone 2 model sports 4GB of RAM, and is powered by Intel’s Atom Z3580 quad-core SoC. The 13-megapixel shooter is available on the back of this phone, and Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on the device. The device costs around Rs. 21,000 ($320) in India.

7. Moto G (3rd-gen)

The third-gen Motorola Moto G was announced during IFA in Berlin this year. The company has managed to improve upon the 2nd-gen Moto G quite a bit, and keep the price quite affordable. The phone comes in two variants, the 1 and 2GB models, and considering the price difference isn’t all that big, we definitely recommend the 2GB model. The device also sports a 5-inch 720p display, 2,470mAh battery, 13-megapixel camera, and is powered by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core SoC. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here, and the phone is also IPX7 certified for water resistance.

6. LG G4

The LG G4 is the company’s flagship for this year. This smartphone was announced back in April, and even though it’s similar to its predecessor, it does sport more powerful specs and a recognizably different design. The device sports a 5.5-inch QHD display, 3GB of RAM and is powered by the Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor. The 16-megapixel camera can be found on the back of this phone, and you’ll also notice LG’s recognizable rear-facing buttons over there as well. The phone costs (basic model) around Rs. 46,500 ($709) in India.

5. Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge

Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones have been unveiled back in March this year, and are Samsung’s flagship smartphones for this year. The two devices sure aren’t cheap, but if you’re looking at the latest and greatest from Samsung (at least as far as smartphones are concerned), there you go. The Galaxy S6 devices sport 5.2-inch QHD displays, 3GB of RAM and are powered by the Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC. Both of them sport a 16-megapixel OIS camera on the back as well, and Android 5.1 Lollipop comes out of the box.

4. Meizu MX5

The Meizu MX5 is one of the company’s flagships announced this year. The recently announced PRO 5 phablet is technically the latest and greatest Meizu has to offer, but that’s a phablet, which makes the MX5 the company’s flagship smartphone. The device is powered by the Helio X10 64-bit octa-core SoC, and it ships with 3GB of RAM on the inside. The 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display is also a part of this package, and it costs Rs. 19,999 ($305) in India (16GB variant).

3. Yu Yureka (Plus) / Yuphoria

YU has launched only 4 devices thus far, and yet all of those devices are quite compelling, especially if you consider their price point. The devices are actually exclusive to India, and we’re listing three devices here, Yuphoria as the entry-level model, and Yureka and Yureka Plus as the company’s mid-rangers. YU Yuphoria is priced at Rs. 6,999 ($107), while Yureka and Yureka Plus cost Rs. 8,999 ($137) in the country. All of these phones ship with Android Lollipop pre-installed, and Cyanogen OS is installed on top of Google’s OS.

2. OnePlus 2

OnePlus 2 is a successor to the company’s OnePlus One handset, which was quite a success for them last year. The 2nd-gen device brings forth spec upgrade, of course, and it’s also redesigned, while it ships with the company’s OxygenOS this time around. The OnePlus 2 sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3 or 4GB of RAM (only the 4GB model is available) and is powered by the Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core SoC. This smartphone sports a 13-megapixel shooter on the back, and Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed out of the box. The device is available in India for Rs. 24,999 ($381), but you’ll need an invite in order to purchase one.

1. Samsung Galaxy Note 5

The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus phablets are the latest and the greatest Samsung has to offer. These are the latest high-end devices Samsung has released, and it seems like only the Note 5 is currently available in India, otherwise both of these phablets would be on this list. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 costs over Rs. 50,000, but it packs a lot of punch. The phablet features a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and is powered by the Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC. This phablet also packs in the S Pen stylus, and ships with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI installed on top of it.
