Chinese manufacturer Huawei has been turning heads for some of the products they launched recently. Google partnered with them to create the Nexus 6P, being the first time that a Chinese company builds one of the devices that are meant to show how the Android operating system should look and feel and they certainly created a design that will be hard to forget. The Huawei Watch is also a very good-looking smartwatch built with premium materials like stainless steel and sapphire crystal. The Mate S is also very well designed and it has some innovations like the pressure sensitive screen which is also capable of recognizing several gestures.
All of this reflects in the sales the company has recently achieved as in the third quarter of the year, it managed to be the top Chinese manufacturer according to TrendForce. It showed a growth in market share of 0.8% respect to the last quarter, which results in 18.7% of market share. According to the report, the company could achieve their goal of selling more than 100 million units this year and there’s a chance that they will be able to sell over 110 million units before the year ends. This would mean that the company managed to sell 40% more devices than last year. Xiaomi had the same goal, but according to the reported estimates, it will be hard to achieve.
This is the first time that a Chinese company meets that goal, but the brands of OPPO and VIVO from BBK Electronics might hit that mark too. Still, Huawei managed to rank third in the global market share, only behind Samsung which sits in the first place and Apple in second, both of these brands saw a decline in market share compared to the previous quarter while Huawei’s market share grew a little bit, so now they own 8.4% of global sales. In the past, Chinese manufacturers were known for offering high-end devices at lower prices than those of the better-known brands, but Huawei is managing to set themselves as a premium brand with international recognition, as the Mate S is selling at a comparable price of other flagship phones.
