UMi Unveils Iron Pro, 3GB of RAM & Eyeprint ID In Tow

UMi has released a couple of smartphones this year, including their eMax and Iron handsets we’ve reviewed already. The latest phone was UMi’s most powerful device, well, until now. The UMi Iron featured 3GB of RAM and an Eyeprint ID retina scanner, and the company has decided to release a ‘Pro’ variant of this smartphone. The Iron Pro is very similar to the Iron, but has a couple of additional tricks up its sleeve. Anyhow, let’s see what Iron Pro has to offer, shall we.

The UMi Iron Pro looks identical to the UMi Iron on the outside, they even sport the same dimensions all around. The Iron Pro, unlike the Iron, offers a rear-facing fingerprint scanner and ships with the Type-C USB port. As far as other specs are concerned, there’s not change here. The UMi Iron Pro features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The device is powered by MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor along with a Mali-T720 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel camera (Sony’s IMX214 sensor) is located on the back of this phone along with a dual-LED flash, and you’ll find an 8-megapixel shooter (OmniVision’s OV8858 sensor) up front. The 3,350mAh battery is included in here once again, and you also get 4G LTE connectivity here (LTE FDD 1800/2100/2600). This is a dual-SIM handset, you can either use both of its nano SIM slots, or you can use one of them, and the other one can serve as a microSD card slot (up to 64GB). It is also worth mentioning that this phone comes equipped with Eyeprint ID, which is a retina scanner which is supposed to add another layer of security to your device.

As far as software goes, this handset will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed, and it’s an almost stock version of the OS. UMi did add some of its own apps and gesture on it, but nothing that would bog down the system. The UMi Iron Pro is a metal unibody device, just like the regular variant, and it’s priced at $179.99. This smartphone is already listed on the company’s website (source link down below), and it’s available for purchase.
