Xiaomi is currently the second placed smartphone OEM is China, though they were holding the top spot until Q3 2015. This China-based company is only 5 years old, and they’ve managed to accomplish quite a lot in such a short time span. Xiaomi has become one of the most popular tech brands in China, has released a number of compelling products over the last year or so, and is looking to expand to other markets in order to grow further. Competition in China has become really fierce, and in order to grow, Xiaomi simply has to look elsewhere. The company has launched one of their smartphones in Brazil earlier this year, and it has been rumored for quite a while now that this company is aiming to sell their smartphones in the US.
The company is already selling their accessories in the States, but their smartphones could arrive soon enough. The company’s co-founder, Lei Jun, has hinted quite recently that the company plans to sell their devices in the US soon. Well, we didn’t have to wait for long for yet another type of confirmation, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro handset has popped up at the FCC. The Redmi 2 and its ‘Pro’ variant have launched earlier this year. The ‘Pro’ variant actually comes with 2GB of RAM, unlike the regular model which ships with only 1GB of RAM on the inside. This is essentially a mid-range offering by Xiaomi, and it seems like it will be available in the US soon, at least judging by FCC’s listing.
The Redmi 2 Pro is very affordable in China, and we do believe that it won’t be that much more expensive in the US, so it will certainly going to be interested how many consumers will be interested in purchasing one. Xiaomi will almost certainly going to hold a press conference in the US before they start selling their device though, so stay tuned for that. The Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro features a 4.7-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor, and a 2,200mAh battery is also a part of this package. The 8-megapixel camera is available on the back of this phone, and a 2-megapixel snapper is available up front. The variant of the device which was certified by the FCC actually offers support for GSM850/1900 and LTE bands 2, 4 and 7. That’s more or less it, stay tuned for more info.
