Xiaomi's Infographic Shows Evolution In MIUI Icon Design

Xiaomi is first and foremost a smartphone OEM, though the company likes to be considered an ‘internet company’. Xiaomi does manufacture a lot of smartphones, but they also release other tech gadgets as well, like fitness bands, smart TVs… and they’ve also released an air purifier and a smart scale recently, for example. Xiaomi is trying to do everything at once and it seems like it’s working out for them. The real test will come soon considering this China-based OEM intends to open up shop in the US.

That being said, Xiaomi is also a software developer. The company has developed their Android-powered MIUI OS quite a long time ago, and is pre-installing it on their smartphone and tablet offerings. The company has unveiled the 7th iteration of the OS earlier this year, and the OS is already rolling out to Xiaomi’s devices. In order to showcase the changes that happened over the years, Xiaomi has released a rather interesting infographic which shows company’s icon design since MIUI 1 all the way to MIUI 7. If you take a look at the image below this article, you’ll get to see all of Xiaomi’s pre-installed icons in one image / infographic, and the change is quite noticeable. The ‘flat’ design language is definitely ‘cool’ these days, and that shows in Xiaomi’s icon design as well.

Xiaomi has brought some changes in the new version of MIUI. The battery is now 25% better than it was on MIUI 6, and the OS performs 30% better according to Xiaomi. The design of the OS hasn’t been changed all that much, but the company did introduce a new app which allows you to theme your layout the way you want. A number of other features have been added, like the ability to make letter huge, and so on. MIUI 7 is a very nice upgrade compared to the MIUI 6 and it runs even better than its predecessor, which is always a good thing. If you’d like to know more about the OS, click here, we’ve already talked about each of the new features, so you’ll be able to get a good grasp of what’s new.
