When it comes to Android devices, at the top end of the market, they can be expensive. One way to circumvent this is to make use of a carrier variant, as these typically come with a subsidized price at the time of signing up. Making them more affordable initially. These normally come though with some form of monthly payment, equipment charger or otherwise, which means you do end up paying off for the phone, just not all at once.
Well, ZTE are looking to try and make it easier for anyone who is thinking about picking up a ZTE smartphone. The company has today announced the launch of its own leasing plan and it seems to be one which will offer a decent level of value. According to ZTE USA CEO, Lixin Cheng, this is a feature designed to ensure devices are more universally affordable “We are introducing leasing options because we believe advanced mobile technology should be available to everyone“.
According to the details, the lease-to-own option will be offered through SmartPay and will be accessible directly through ZTE’s U.S. website. The customer simply applies though SmartPay for an instant decision and if approved, continues through checkout by making the first initial payment and setting up the additional monthly payment plan. This option will allow users to make use of a more affordable way to pay for smartphones and is not limited to smartphones either. As ZTE has confirmed that customers will be able to use this service on pretty much any of the ZTE mobile device product range including the likes of the ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector. Leases will be available anywhere from 6 months to 24 months and once the device is paid off, it is owned by the consumer. What makes the option even more consumer-friendly, is that there is no set contract involved, users can cancel at anytime or upgrade again to another device without incurring any fees or fines by returning their leased handset and starting the process over again with the latest handset. It also seems that this option will be available for either unlocked or carrier-specific ZTE devices, as long as they are purchased directly through ZTE.
