You’ve probably already heard of ZUK, a Lenovo-backed company which has announced a rather interesting smartphone a while back. The ZUK Z1 was first announced in China, and an international variant followed soon after. The Chinese variant of this phone is powered by ZUK’s ZUI user interface, while the international variant ships with Cyanogen OS pre-installed. That being said, we’ve already reviewed the Chinese variant of this device, in case you’d like to check that out. The Cyanogen OS-powered model has been released quite recently, and is now available via Amazon in Europe, read on.
If you visit Amazon sites in Italy, Germany, France, Spain or UK, you’ll be able to purchase this device. The device is somewhat more expensive than we have anticipated, but it does offer a really solid set of specs. Speaking of which, let’s take a look at ZUK Z1’s specifications, shall we. The ZUK Z1 features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display along with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of non-expandable native storage. This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC along with an Adreno 330 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this phone, and an 8-megapixel snapper can be found up front. The non-removable 4,100mAh battery is also a part of this package, while you also get dual-SIM connectivity here, along with a fingerprint scanner which is built-in to the physical home button you’ll find underneath the display. This device does offer 4G LLTE connectivity as well, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Cyanogen OS 12.1 available on top of it. The ZUK Z1 measures 155.7 x 77.3 x 8.9mm, while it weighs 175 grams.
This phone costs around $285 in China, and the international version is priced somewhat higher than that. It all depends on which Amazon are you looking up the price, of course, the phone costs £299.99 in the UK, while it’s priced at EUR 374,99 in Italy, for example. That’s more or less it, the ZUK Z1 is a solid smartphone which sports more than a decent set of specs, and those of you who like tweaking your phone will probably like the fact Cyanogen OS comes pre-installed here. If you’re interested and live in Europe, you can check out either of the aforementioned Amazon sites.
