Samsung is the number one smartphone OEM in the world at the moment, and the company has released quite a few compelling smartphones this year. This Korea-based tech giant has released two flagship smartphones, two flagship phablets, and a number of additional low and mid-range devices. Speaking of which, Galaxy On5 and On7 are the company’s latest mid-range offerings, they’ve launched in China quite recently actually.
That being said, Samsung’s Galaxy ‘A’ mid-range line of devices have become rather popular with consumers. Samsung has released Galaxy A3, A5, A7 and A8 devices thus far, and it seems like their successors are on the way. The 2nd-gen Galaxy A3 and A7 have been spotted in Zauba’s listing recently, and both of them have surfaced on GFXBench as well. The Galaxy A5 was nowhere to be found, well, until now. The new Samsung Galaxy A5, or SM-A510F, has popped up on both GFXBench and Geekbench quite recently.
According to the listings, the 2nd-gen Galaxy A5 will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The device will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7 Octa SoC clocked at 1.6GHz along with a Mali-T720 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel snapper will be available on the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel shooter will be located up front. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed here with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI available on top of Google’s OS. This handset has managed to hit 725 points in a single-core test, and 3,780 points in a multi-coretest according to Geekbench.
As you can see, the 2nd-gen Galaxy A5 will be a mid-range smartphone just like its predecessor. As far as sheer power goes, it will be placed in between the Galaxy A3 and A7, just like its predecessor was. At this point, we still don’t know when will Samsung announced either of these phones, but it will happen really soon. You can expect at least the Galaxy A3 and A5 to be announced and available before the holidays, while the Galaxy A7 might arrive a bit later, but we’ll see. Either way, stay tuned.
