Today marks the availability of two new smartphones which have been officially announced in the last couple of months, the BlackBerry PRIV and the HTC One A9. While both phones have their strengths and weaknesses, they’re also both intriguing devices. The HTC One A9 may receive a lot of criticism simply for its design that most find looks a little too close to the iPhone 6 models, and while that may be true that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s a great looking phone, which is going to be one of its strong points and potentially a defining factor in why some consumers may opt to pick one up. In the case of the BlackBerry PRIV, this is a device people who have been in tune with smartphones for years will almost immediately recognize in regards to the name brand as BlackBerry are familiar. It has lots of other stuff going for it too, of course.
The question is, which phone would you choose out of the two? The BlackBerry PRIV? Or the HTC One A9? Aside from its thin form factor, the HTC One A9 also brings in excellent audio quality due to the 24-bit Hi-Res audio. It’s also got a decent camera coming in at 13MP with dual-tone LED flash, OIS, and an f/2.0 aperture for better images in lower light conditions. It is however, going to be costly for what is more or less a mid-range device. With the BlackBerry PRIV, you also have a high price tag and more so than the HTC One A9, but you get an 18MP rear camera with dual LED flash and what could arguably be a better sensor. You also have the world-class security and privacy features that BlackBerry is known for, as well as a slide up QWERTY keyboard, and what should be fairly speedy update support. So, which phone would you choose out of the two?
