BlackBerry is a Canada-based smartphone OEM, it’s a very interesting company. BlackBerry has been around for a long time, and they were regarded as one of the best cellphone manufacturers back in the day. Their devices sported premium build, and were well known for the physical qwerty keyboards. Well, BlackBerry basically waited for too long in order to release a proper smartphone operating system, and they were basically late tot he party. All of that resulted in serious financial losses for the company, so they’ve decided to release an Android-powered smartphone in order to try to rectify that. The phone was announced back in October, and it’s already available in certain markets, read on.
The phone has been available for a while now in select markets, and it’s now back in stock in the UK. The device has been available for pre-order in the UK for quite some time now, and it’s now in stock, you can now purchase it directly from BlackBerry if you’d like. The phone costs £559.00 (tax included) in the UK through BlackBerry’s store, while it is priced at £560 over at Carphone Warehouse. The phone is somewhat more expensive on Amazon though, it costs £655. BlackBerry had some shipping issues in the past, so the phone wasn’t exactly in stock for long, but it seems the company was able to resolve any issues they had.
The device features a 5.4-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 200GB via a microSD card). The Priv is fueled by the Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor along with an Adreno 418 GPU for graphics. The 18-megapixel shooter is available on its back, and a 2-megapixel snapper can be found up front. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with some additions by BlackBerry, and a 3,410mAh battery is available on the inside. The biggest feature of this phone is its sliding qwerty keyboard, of course, which doubles as a touchpad of sorts. That’s pretty much it, BlackBerry Priv sure is a unique smartphone, and if you want to have a physical keyboard at your disposal, this is one of few Android-powered options you have at the moment.
