Cricket Wireless, the prepaid brand of America’s second largest wireless carrier, AT&T Mobility, has announced the launch of its very own rewards program dubbed ‘Cricket Rewards’ that is believed to be the first of its kind from a prepaid carrier in the country, at least according to the press release from the company. As part of the newly-announced program, customers will also be able to earn credits for completing various in-app offers from its marketing partners, which can then be redeemed either through gift cards or by entering sweepstakes or making donations for charitable causes. The offers can be accessed either through the company’s official website, or through its in-house mobile apps like ‘MyCricket’ and ‘Cricket Rewards’. The carrier says, it has tied up with SessionM’s Mobile Marketing Cloud and mPLUS Rewards for bringing the rewards program to its customers.
The company has further announced that the program is not exclusive to its own customers either. Mobile users who’re not with Cricket will also apparently be able to sign-up with the ‘Cricket Rewards’ app for the rewards program, with the only caveat being, they will not be earning as many rewards points as the carrier’s own customers. While the program is only being officially launched now, it was being tested for the last few months already. According to the executive director of marketing at Cricket, Mr. Keith Schumann, the newly-launched initiative will provide “an opportunity for our customers to engage us in a new and interesting way”.
As for the various ways to earn rewards points, Cricket has announced that people signing up with the program will start earning credits just by opening an account. From there on, they can check into local Cricket retail stores or national retail partners, add AutoPay and make timely payments to get more credit points. As the carrier has signed up with mPlus Rewards, signatories to the program will have access to “more than 1500 mPlus Rewards-powered applications”, through which, they’ll be able to earn further reward points. The apps include The Weather Channel, TMZ, MovieFone, Wheel of Fortune, Dragons: Rise of Berk and Office Zombie, among numerous other well-known applications.
Users will be able to redeem their rewards at AMC Movie theaters, Amazon, GameStop, Old Navy, Sears, Target and other popular stores. They’ll also be able to enter a newly-launched new $25,000 Selfie Sweepstakes. As mentioned earlier, rewards points can also be redeemed by making charitable donations to a number of organizations like American Heart Association, ASPCA, Make-a-Wish Foundation etc.
