Entry-Level LG Ray Announced, HD Display & 1GB Of RAM In Tow

LG has announced quite a few devices this year, and the most notable ones are the LG G4 and LG V10, both of which are LG’s flagship devices. That being said, LG tends to release quite a few entry-level and mid-range smartphones every year, and 2015 is not an exception. This Korea-based tech giant has just released yet another handset, this time we’re looking at an entry-level offering from the company. The device in question is LG Ray, let’s see what it has to offer, shall we.

The LG Ray features a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display (267 PPI) along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The phone is powered by an octa-core SoC running at 1.4GHz, but LG did not list which exact SoC are we looking at here. The 13-megapixel shooter is available on the back of this handset, and an 8-megapixel snapper can be found up front. The 3,000mAh removable battery is also a part of this package, but we can’t say the same about 4G LTE connectivity. This is an entry-level handset aimed at emerging market and it doesn’t offer 4G LTE connectivity, unfortunately. It does, however, come with 3G HSPA+ speeds (21Mbps), and there will be a dual-SIM variant as well. The device will be available in Silver, Gold and Titan Black color options, and it measures 152.5 x 76.4 x 9.3mm, while it weighs 158 grams. It is also worth mentioning that the device is made out of metal, as you can see in the images down below.

As far as software goes, the LG Ray comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed, and you’ll find LG’s UX UI installed on top of Google’s OS. The phone comes with a number of LG software features, like the Gesture Shot, for example. “Customers in 3G markets continue to be a priority for LG so we will continue to develop new products with these consumers in mind. No matter the country or the device, every LG customers will receive a unique user experience with a balance of design, performance and value,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

The LG Ray will start rolling out in the CIS region this week, and Latin America will follow soon after. The exact availability dates and pricing haven’t been revealed at this point, LG said that they will be revealed when the phone gets announced separately for every region.
