Samsung has released four metal unibody flagships this year, the Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge smartphones, and Galaxy Note 5 & S6 Edge Plus phablets. All of these phones are quite premium, and really have lots to offer, both in terms of the design and specifications. That being said, the Galaxy S7 probably won’t launch until February or March next year, and despite that, we’ve been seeing quite a few rumors when it comes to this smartphone. The phone is rumored to sport either the 20-megapixel ISOCELL camera, a 12-megapixel shooter with a huge sensor, or perhaps Sony’s IMX300 sensor on the back. All three of these cameras were mentioned in recent rumors.
Anyhow, a new report has surfaced in China, courtesy of Pan Jiutang, a China-based analyst. This report says that the Galaxy S7 might actually be more affordable than its predecessor. According to Mr. Jiutang, the Galaxy S7 might be 10% more affordable, which are great news, presuming this info is accurate, of course. This would help Samsung not only promote their device more efficiently, but would also be an advantage over the competition, especially Apple’s iPhone. We won’t really know if this report is legit until Samsung actually releases the phone next year because it’s unrealistic to expect any sort of confirmation from the company before then.
We’ve seen plenty of spec leaks when it comes to this phone as well. These spec leaks actually leaked conflicting info, but the Galaxy S7 will most probably be made out of metal, and it will be powered by either the Snapdragon 820 or Samsung’s Exynos 8890 SoC. It is quite possible that Samsung plans to deploy both of these chips, which means that they’d sell Exynos 8890-powered Galaxy S7 units in one market, and Snapdragon 820-powered ones in the other. The phone is also rumored to sport the 32-bit Stereo D/A converter, and you can also expect Samsung to include 4GB of RAM on the inside. The camera sensors are still a mystery, as mentioned above, there are several possibilities. The Galaxy S7 will probably ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI available on top of Google’s operating system.
