Google Adds Tabbed Browsing To Google Shopping On Mobile

The few months leading up to the holidays become a very busy time of the year for shoppers, and with how mobile most people’s lives have become it shouldn’t be a surprise to learn that people are completing most of their shopping searches on their smartphones and tablets these days. According to Google’s Inside AdWords blog post from yesterday, that has become exactly the case for the Fall of 2015. As such, Google is making the shopping experience even easier for mobile users by redesigning the Google Shopping pages just in time for Black Friday, which should mean faster searches, quicker checkouts, and overall an improved shopping experience.

To make things faster, Google has eliminated the need to load up a fresh new web page when browsing through search results on Google Shopping and have instead replaced that particular act with swiping between tabs. This allows not only for a faster overall experience since you don’t have to spend time waiting on page loads, but it also introduces a more seamless shopping expedience which in turn should feel simpler to buyers. In the heat of the busiest shopping season of the year, speed and simplicity are undoubtedly an important factor for many people as they don’t want to spend all day shopping if they can avoid it.

Google is also making it easier for people to find local places to pick up what they’re looking for. If a search is started inside of Google Shopping, it will now alert shoppers to the nearest retailers locally so if they’re on the go they can easily stop in and grab it instead of buying online. The whole process has been redesigned to take away some of the stress that shopping can sometimes introduce, and it all starts by helping people narrow their options down when searching for products to buy. According to Google’s data, when people search for stuff to shop for, 40 percent of those searches aren’t pinpointed to a specific thing, and are actually more of a wide range. So, Google’s revamped Shopping experience helps by showing the most commonly searched for categories within the search term. Google Shopping’s new changes should be live as of today.
