LinkedIn is one of those social media sites that many of us don’t spend much time on, but we all use. And their Android app hadn’t been all that great. Prior to the version 4.0 update that was released today, it was still part of the Holo generation of apps. However that all changed today with version 4.0 which makes it material. And it looks amazing. LinkedIn’s app has needed some help, and it appears to have gotten some help.
The new update gets rid of the Ice Cream Sandwich look and brings nice looking icons along the top navigation bar in the app. Which has replaced the old side drawer that was in the previous version of the LinkedIn app. If you swipe left and right, you are able to swipe between the feed tab, profile, messages, connections as well as search. The last icon, which looks a bit like a launcher, is there to get you into LinkedIn’s other applications. The settings have been moved to the profile tab and now include profile options as well as options for the app. In the app, we also have some sweet new animations and transitions, which is all part of the material design aspect of the app now, in this new update. And of course there is the fresh coat of paint, which makes the app feel less depressing, and more bright and vibrant.
LinkedIn’s update is available now in the Play Store, however it is a staged rollout as usual. So you can also grab the APK from the link below, if you wish not to wait for the update to finally hit your device. If you already have LinkedIn installed on your device, sideloading this APK will indeed replace it. So you may want to back it up, just in case anything goes wrong – although it shouldn’t. LinkedIn is more of a professional network, compared to the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and even Reddit. Many use LinkedIn to find a new job – and LinkedIn excels really well at doing just that. So it is a pretty useful application to have installed.
