Square Enix has been on a roll with decent mobile games recently, and the latest to hit the Play Store was Lara Croft GO from earlier this year. While the game is still technically new as it hasn’t been out more than a few months, it’s due for its first major content update today, which for those that play it and have already beaten the stages on offer since the initial launch of the game, this is somewhat perfect timing as there should be plenty of downtime tomorrow for many people that celebrate Thanksgiving. Especially for those that are looking for something to do during the in-between meal sessions or for a reason to escape those conversations with family you only see but once every year or two. The update should already be live although it may take some time to show up for everyone.
In addition to the update, Square Enix is putting Lara Croft GO on sale for 40% off which brings it down to $2.99 from the regular $4.99 cost, and this is alongside the sales they have going on for most of their Final Fantasy titles which are 50% off. When it comes to the update for Lara Croft GO, the game will be getting an expansion called The Shard of Life which includes a collection of 26 new mind-bending puzzles to complete. These will come along with new challenges and new a locale, which you must help Lara explore as she searches for the Shard of Life inside the Cave of Fire.
Much like the other stages, you’ll encounter plenty of obstacles in your path attempting to prevent you from proceeding further towards your goal, including traps, monsters, and just the general brain teaser. Aside from the new levels and new enemies, there has been a new game mechanic added that Square Enix says completely alters the behavior of enemies, however, they don’t specify what that is so it should be a nice little surprise for players. Other new additions include a new snapshot button so you can take easy screenshots of the game, and there are new collectables as well which includes two new artifacts to find, and two new costumes to outfit Lara with. There’s also some new achievements, and if you’re someone who prides themselves on obtaining all of these, then this is likely a welcomed addition along with everything else. If you picked up Lara Croft GO yet, $2.99 is a great price at which to do so. You can grab it from the Play Store button below.
