Mlais Smartwatch Surfaces, Might Ship With Android Wear

Mlais is a Hong Kong-based company which has released a handful of smartphones thus far. We’ve reviewed a number of those devices, including Mlais MX Base, M7, M52 Red Note and M4 Note. Most of these devices managed to surprise us as far as quality and general performance goes, Mlais did a really good job overall. That being said, It seems like Mlais is getting ready to release a smartwatch, and it could be Android Wear-powered, which is very interesting. Anyhow, let’s see what’s what.

If you head over to Mlais.com, you’ll get to see the smartwatch teaser on their official website. Now, the teaser mentions ‘Android’, but that’s it. This could mean that it will run a full version of Android, like many Chinese watches, or Android Wear. Well, the watch has also popped up on GearBest, and according to GearBest’s listing, the watch will be compatible with both Android and iOS, which kind of suggests this will be an Android Wear-powered smartwatch. Keep in mind that the listing mentions that Android 5.1 Lollipop might come pre-installed here, but that’s hardly likely. Interesting enough, Elephone and Bluboo have already confirmed that they’re working on Android Wear-powered smartwatches, which makes things interesting because all of these offerings will be very affordable and available for shipping all over the world.

As far as the Mlais smartwatch specifications go, GearBest’s listing says that it will sport a 1.3-inch round display along with 512MB of RAM. The display resolution will be 360 x 360 (276ppi), and a 400mAh battery will also be a part of this package. The watch will be made out of metal, and as you can see, it really does resemble Moto 360 (2nd-gen) a whole lot. 4GB of internal storage will be available here, and MediaTek’s MT2601 dual-core SoC will fuel this smartwatch. The watch will also ship with a leather band, which is clearly visible on the image above. The smartwatch will be available in Black and Silver color options, while additional colors might become available as well. That is pretty much it, the watch is still not available on GearBest, but will become available soon, stay tuned.
