The new version of the tablet is being dubbed the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet K1 and unlike the predecessor, this one does not come equipped with a stylus. The stylus can still be purchased as an accessory for $19.99 but no long comes bundled with the tablet and there is no longer a slot for the stylus to reside. Another big change is the price. The new Tablet K1 comes in at a considerably cheaper $199.99 price tag. The Tablet K1 works with the SHIELD Controller which can again be purchased as an accessory for $59.99 and there is also an optional magnetic cover which can be purchased for $39.99. In terms of availability, the Tablet K1 is available in the U.S. directly from NVIDIA, as well as other major online retailers including Amazon, Best Buy and Newegg. Outside of the U.S., the Tablet K1 is also launching today in Canada and select European locations.

Inside, the specs remain unchanged with the SHIELD Tablet K1 coming equipped with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and powered by an NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor (which clocks at 2.2 GHz). Although, this is the 16GB option, it does comes equipped with a microSD card slot for further expansion if needed.
