Pebble smartwatches might not be as sophisticated as some of the other options available. They started using color screens this year and even then, they can only display 64 colors. They also lack some sensors that have become a standard among modern smartwatches and the design might not be everyone’s cup of tea. Still, Pebble smartwatches are solid offerings and in most cases as they are priced accordingly, plus, they have more battery life than most of their competitors. The company has also showed some commitment with their loyal customers, as they are bringing new features to their older devices.
Back in September, the company announced its first smartwatch with a circular display, it’s called Pebble Time Round and it’s actually the lightest and thinnest smartwatch in the world. The stainless steel chassis of the watch measures 7.5 mm thick and it weighs 28 grams and its e-paper color display is always on, so you can see the time or notifications at all times. The battery can last for up to 2 days, but a 15-minute charge will provide enough battery life for a day, plus it designed to resist water splashes. It features Pebble’s Timeline UI, so users will see their notifications, calendar events and information from third-party apps organized in Past, Present and Future tabs.
Today, the company has announced that those who pre-ordered the Pebble Time Round will start receiving their watch on November 8th. For those who would like to see how it looks in person or try how it feels, they can buy it at retail stores like Best Buy and Target on that same day. The watch will also be available in online stores including Amazon.com, Target.com, BestBuy.com and Pebble.com. The watch is available in several colors and finishes and it features two sizes of bands, 14 mm and 20 mm. The base models with leather straps in both sizes start at $249.99. The ones with 14 mm metallic mesh bands cost $279.98 and there are some with 20 mm stainless steel link straps, which cost $299.98. There are silver and black finishes in both sizes and an exclusive rose gold finish for the smaller bands.
