With all of the rumors floating around as of late in regards to Samsung’s next flagship, the Galaxy S7. Many had began to speculate that the company might be looking to announce the new flagship a bit earlier than usual. Typically, Samsung will announce the Galaxy S around Mobile World Congress which takes place in Barcelona, Spain each year. Either the last week of February or the first week of March. Next year, Mobile World Congress is set to take place beginning February 22nd and ending on the 25th, and according to a tipster, Unpacked is set for February 21st, which is the day before the show kicks off, and typically when smartphone manufacturers have their press events.
Now it’s important to remember that this is a rumor and not confirmed just yet. We’re still about four months away, so anything can happen, and many things will likely change. But a Mobile World Congress unveil is much more likely than having a mid-January announcement, in the middle of two of the biggest shows of the year – CES and Mobile World Congress.
The rumor mill is still spinning pretty quickly. With many rumors coming out each and every week. The latest points at the company using both their own in-house Exynos 8890 processor, and the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 which was just made official on Tuesday. The Snapdragon 820 is said to be used in China and the US, while the rest of the world will be getting the Exynos 8890 version of the device. Some other rumors consisted of two sizes for the Galaxy S7, a 5.2-inch version and a 5.8-inch version with 3GB of RAM and 4GB of RAM respectively. That we’d definitely take with a grain of salt, considering the Galaxy Note line is 5.7-inches, but Samsung is the king of large phones. So it could happen.
As we always are, we will be live at Unpacked in Barcelona in February to bring you all of the coverage. And if things change, and the South Korean manufacturer does indeed decide to do a mid-January announcement, we will be there for that as well.
