Xiaomi Mi 5 rumors are getting out of control. Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship was supposed to be launched back in July considering its predecessor arrived in that same time period last year, but that didn’t happen. Ever since then we’ve been seeing all sorts of rumors floating around, including the ‘Force Touch’ rumor. Xiaomi has allegedly partnered up with Synaptics and will bring the company’s ClearForce tech to their new devices, including the Mi 5, well, at least according to the latest rumor. That being said, yet another Xiaomi Mi 5-related rumor popped up along with some Snapdragon 820 info, read on.
According to @Leaksfly, a rather well-known tipster, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will land on December 3rd. Now, keep in mind that this is the alleged announcement date of the phone, and the device will probably become available in Q1 2016 if this is true, but we’ll see. As most of you know, the Mi 5 is rumored to be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, which hasn’t been released just yet. The report said that the chip will be available in Q1 2016, and even though Qualcomm already released an announcement press release, they still have to announce the chip on-stage.
Yesterday’s rumor said that the chip will be announced on November 10th in New York, but today’s rumor claims that will happen on November 20th. So, the Mi 5 could technically ship with the Snapdragon 820 SoC on the inside, but that means that we’ll have to wait for this device longer than expected. If the Mi 5 really ends up sporting Qualcomm’s latest processor, don’t expect it to become available before Q1 2016.
Aside from the Snapdragon 820 SoC, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is rumored to sport a 5.2-inch QHD display along with 3 or 4GB of RAM. The phone will be made out of metal, and Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS will quite probably come pre-installed on this device. That’s pretty much it, aside from a ton of rumors, we really don’t have all that much info when it comes to the Mi 5. One thing is for sure though, you can expect this device to sport premium build, and Xiaomi will do its best to keep it as affordable as possible, as they do with every device they announce.
