Samsung Officially Announces Galaxy On5 & On7 In India

Samsung has announced the company’s new entry-level smartphones (though they can be considered mid-range in some markets) in China about 10 days ago. The smartphones in question are the Galaxy On5 and On7, and it is worth mentioning that this was a quiet announcement, the phones basically popped up on the company’s website. That being said, Samsung has opted to use a different approach for the Indian smartphone market. The company has teased the announcement of these two devices yesterday, and has held an event today and released these smartphones.

The Galaxy On5 and On7 remain unchanged here, these are the identical devices Samsung has announced in China. The Galaxy On5 features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card). This smartphone is powered by the company’s Exynos 3475 quad-core SoC running at 1.3GHz along with a Mali-T720 GPU for graphics. The 8-megapixel camera (f/2.2 aperture) is available on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel shooter (f/2.2 aperture) can be found up front. The 2,600mAh battery is also a part of this package, and you also get two SIM card slots and 4G LTE connectivity here.

The Galaxy On7, on the other hand, sports a 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720) display, 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage (up to 128GB via microSD card). This smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor along with an Adreno 306 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel snapper (f/2.1 aperture) can be found on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel shooter (f/2.2 aperture) is available up front. The 3,000mAh battery is also a part of this package, and this phone sports dual-SIM functionality as well.

Both of these devices will ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI available on top of it. The Galaxy On5 measures 142.3 x 72.1 x 8.5mm, while it weighs 149 grams. The On7 comes in at 151.8 x 77.5 x 8.2mm, and weighs 172 grams. Both of these phones will be available in Black, White and Gold color options, and will be priced at Rs. 8,990 ($137) and Rs. 10,990 ($168), respectively. The two devices will be available for purchase exclusively from Flipkart starting today at midnight (local time).
