Samsung's 'BRITECELL' Trademark Could Be Galaxy S7-Related

Samsung will probably announce their new flagship, the Galaxy S7, in February or March next year. We still don’t have any official news when it comes to this phone, but we did see a number of rumors thus far. Three camera sensor rumors popped up lately, and each of them sounds really interesting. The first rumor which has surfaced said that the phone will sport Samsung’s 20-megapixel ISOCELL sensor, while the second one claimed that the company is in negotiations with Sony in order to license the IMX300 sensor which Sony used in all three Xperia Z5 devices. And last, but not least, an interesting rumor popped up yesterday saying that Samsung might opt for a 12-megapixel shooter in the end, but that it might sport a 1/2.0″ sensor size along with a dual-PD (dual-photodiode) technology.

That being said, Samsung has actually filed a camera-related trademark application at the end of last month. The company has trademarked ‘BRITECELL’, which might suggest that the company is planning to release a camera with a rather large sensor. Even if the name is not revealing enough, the description clearly says that this is an image sensor for mobile devices. Now, this might actually suggest that the 12-megapixel rumor was spot on, but we cannot be sure at the moment. Either way, we’ll let you know if anything else camera-related pops up, and it surely will.

As already mentioned, we’ve seen quite a few Galaxy S7 rumors thus far, but not many of them were spec-related. One of the rumors suggested that the Galaxy S7 might ship with a 32-bit Stereo D/A converter, which means that the phone might offer really solid audio quality. The phone will almost certainly going to be powered by the Exynos 8890 processor, though the Snapdragon 820 has also been rumored, so it is possible that Samsung plans to release two variants of this device. The phone will also, quite probably, ship with 4GB of RAM, and you can expect it to be made out of metal. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on this device, and the company’s TouchWiz UI will be available on top of it.
