Sprint CEO takes to Twitter to Defend Company against T-Mobile

Sprint’s CEO is a bit outspoken. Perhaps not as much as T-Mobile’s CEO. Although we have seen the two of them get into some pretty heated Twitter arguments in the past few months. That’s something you don’t see everyday, or even ever. This morning, T-Mobile announced a promo specifically for Sprint customers to switch to T-Mobile. In addition to the up to $650 to get you to switch (to cover ETF’s, device payments, etc), T-Mobile is also giving Sprint customers a $200 bill credit on top of that, and that’s good for each line you bring over to the Uncarrier. Of course, you’d also get Binge On, Music Freedom and everything else. Well, Sprint’s CEO Marcelo Claure didn’t like that, and has just posted a slew of tweets about how Sprint’s network is better and how their prices are lower.

It all started with a tweet stating:

“It’s that time of the year when we say thanks for a job well done. Thanks to the @Sprint network team for beating T-Mobile in every metric”

He then went on to post some screenshots of Root Metrics scores for Sprint and T-Mobile. The screenshots he was showing of Root Metrics were actually for the entire country and not just one market (as we all know, Sprint is doing really well in their home market). And justifiably, Sprint is indeed beating T-Mobile in every category. Even ping. Of course, Claure did not post the areas where T-Mobile beats them. In fact, if you go to the Root Metrics report page, you’ll see that T-Mobile has more awards than Sprint, and obviously AT&T and Verizon are far above them in the award count. Now we all know, location is key in coverage. Both carriers do have big holes in their coverage. So neither really has room to talk.

Claure also took time to plug his cut your bill in half promo, where they are taking T-Mobile’s plans and cutting the price in half. So for those with 4 lines you can get 10GB of data for each line for $90 per month. That’s a really great deal. But we would urge everyone to check coverage before jumping ship to Sprint or to T-Mobile.

Things are just getting started, we’ll likely see some responses from John Legere pretty soon. If not on Twitter, definitely on Periscope.
