T-Mobile Launching the Gear VR on Nov. 27th for $99

Earlier this week, Best Buy began taking pre-orders for the newest Gear VR headset, and priced it at $99.99. Which is actually a pretty decent price for what you’re getting here. This new version of the Gear VR supports all of Samsung’s flagship devices, including the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5. Which is great, considering the previous versions were all unique to a specific device.

Now T-Mobile is going to be the first wireless carrier to carry the Gear VR, at least here in the US. They are treating this as an accessory, as they should, so that it won’t cost you any extra on your wireless bill to add the Gear VR. With the Gear VR, you can play some sweet VR games that are already available on the Play Store, there are also a number of 360-degree videos available on YouTube that you can also check out with the Gear VR. Making for a pretty interesting experience. Netflix, Hulu and Twitch also support the Gear VR already, and with Netflix and Hulu being added to BingeOn (T-Mobile’s streaming video service, that doesn’t count against your cap) it means you can watch as many movies and TV shows as you want without it using your data. Although they are streaming at 480p, which likely won’t look that great when it’s that close to your face, unfortunately.

The Gear VR will be available from T-Mobile beginning on November 27th. It will be available both in the store as well as online. So you can walk into your favorite neighborhood T-Mobile retailer and grab the new Gear VR for your Samsung device. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work with non-Samsung devices right now. T-Mobile also reminded us that the Gear S2 will be available this Sunday in stores. So you can pick up the Gear S2 to add to your collection and add it to your account for just $5/month. Which includes 500MB of high-speed data, then capped at 2G speeds after. So you can email, tweet, and so forth straight from your smartwatch. How futuristic is that?
