Toast, who some of you may have heard of before, we actually reviewed their real wood cover last year on the Nexus 6. They have just launched their wood covers for the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P. And something new they are doing this year is allowing you to mix and match, at least with the Nexus 6P. So you can choose one style for the back of the Nexus 6P and another for the “visor” that houses the camera, flash, laser auto-focus, etc., on the back. There are some pretty neat combinations that can be made for the Nexus 6P here.
The wood covers for both the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are going to cost you $34. So they aren’t as cheap as skins from SlickWraps or dbrand. But these are much thicker, and they are not removable. Well at least not easily removable. I had a pretty tough time removing it from the Nexus 6 last year. So make sure when you are installing it on your device that you install it correctly, and slowly the first time. So you don’t mess anything up.
Toast started back in 2012, and is located in Portland, Oregon. So they are an American company. They actually started out as a Kickstarter project, and now they are a full-fledged company making some amazing products. Toast supports much more than just the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. They also support the Nexus 5, Moto X, Moto G and countless other smartphones, tablets, laptops and much more. Toast likes to tout that all of their products are made with 100% renewable energy and they also donate one percent of their sales to environmental non-profits who work to restore, protect and maintain a healthy product. So if you’re looking to get a sweet wood cover for your device, but also want to help out the environment, Toast is a good place to start.
All of these covers are made with precision and are also available with engraving – which will cost you an extra $5 – but there are some pretty sweet engravings available on these wood covers. Head on over to their website and check them out.
