Among the number of gifts Verizon is giving to their subscribers including plenty of savings deals on devices for Black Friday, the carrier has also just started pushing out an OTA update to LG G4 owners, which should fix some of the issues that people have been having since they released their last OTA back on October 9th. While this update seems to have started rolling out as of today, it could still be a few days before it reaches everyone as software updates are typically staggered and are pushed out to users in waves rather than all at once. Having said that, it looks like it may be available for downloading by every LG G4 owner on Verizon as of today.
The update seems to be mainly about fixes that address the problems that were brought on by the previous software update sent out by Verizon, which saw users having trouble receiving push notifications when they were connected to a WiFi signal for data instead of Verizon’s cellular network. Those problems should be gone now with this update, which is good news for users since many likely don’t have unlimited data and may rely somewhat on WiFi for a connection from time to time. In addition to the notification bug, this update also looks to add in a couple of tweaks to the system and user experience.
Prior to the update, LG G4 devices on Verizon apparently had the volumes for notifications, system sounds and the phone ringtone connected, and now users should notice that the volumes for these sounds are individual, allowing them to adjust the volumes on a singular basis as opposed to all at the same level when trying to modify just one. There is also a new camera mode included in the camera app on the device, enabling a slow motion effect. According to the details, this is a fairly large software update at 422MB, but only if you had not updated to the OTA that was pushed out back on October 9th. If you are on that particular build of software then the update today comes in at a much smaller size of 61MB. If you haven’t received a notification about the OTA update yet, you can check manually from settings-about phone.
