Meizu has released a couple of devices this year, and has managed to grow quite a bit. This China-based company has actually increased their profits 540% in the second quarter of the year (compared to a year before it), which means they’re one of the fastest-growing smartphone manufacturers in China at the moment. Meizu has also managed to get into top 10 China-based smartphone manufacturers this time around, and are placed right below Samsung according to the latest info. That being said, the Meizu PRO 5 is the latest device this company has released, and also the most powerful one. This phablet is fueled by Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC, which is considered to be one of the most powerful mobile SoC’s currently available. The rest of PRO 5’s specs are also up to par, and it is always interesting to guess what will Meizu release next.
Speaking of which, a new leak has surfaced in China, well, more of a report. China-based analyst, Pan Jiutang, has reported that Meizu might actually use the Snapdragon 820 next year. According to the analyst, the company is actually planning to release a Snapdragon 820-powered smartphone next year, though he really didn’t give out too much info aside from that. Meizu has released two high-end devices in 2015, the Helio X10-powered MX5, and the Exynos 7420-powered PRO 5 handsets. If previous years are any indications, we won’t see a high-end Meizu smartphone before the third quarter of the year, but things might change, of course. Meizu is constantly altering their release schedule, so the company might even announce a premium device in the first half of the year, who knows.
This Chinese smartphone OEM actually tends to use MediaTek’s and Samsung’s processors in their devices, in fact, if they really do utilize the Snapdragon 820, that will be the first Snapdragon-powered Meizu-branded device released to date. All of the company’s previous devices have used either MediaTek or Exynos processors. That is pretty much it, we don’t have more information at the time, but if this report is accurate, we’ll get to see plenty of leaks soon enough, stay tuned.
