AT&T Commercial Urges you to leave your Phones Alone for Just One Day

It’s the holidays, a time for everyone to be with their friends and family and spend some quality time with them. It’s the one time of year, that everyone gets together and hangs out. AT&T has a new commercial out, where they are urging everyone to shut off their phones for that one day (of course, they want you to use them the rest of the days). And it’s something that we can all agree with. So when you’re spending time with your friends and family this holiday season, be sure to shut off that phone, it’ll still be there tomorrow. The ad from AT&T shows a young lady tapping away on her phone at dinner, taking selfies, and such. Something we all do every single day no matter what’s going on. However, for Christmas, the young lady hands over her phone, as the narrator says “this season, give the present of being present”.

AT&T was running this ad over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and is expected to go back to their regular advertising spots now that Christmas is over. While this is the first time AT&T has done an ad campaign like this for the holidays, it’s not the first time they’ve asked users to put away their phones. You may remember that big “no texting while driving” campaign they were doing, stating “it can wait”. As many know, Texting while driving is distracting, but moreover it’s also dangerous. Many people are killed each year due to others texting while they are driving, so put the phone down and keep your eyes on the road.

Seeing as AT&T makes almost all of their money – at least on the mobile side of the company – from users using their phones. The company would love to see you going back to using data by the gigabyte now that the holidays are over. To keep their executives and shareholders happy. Not to mention, keeping their pockets lined with your cash. Make sure to use WiFi as much as you can this holiday season, to avoid hitting your data cap and being charged overages.
