Audiofly is an Australian brand that musicians might be familiar with as a result of their in-ear monitors used on stage all over the world. For some time now though, the company has also been offering up in-ear headphones that cover a range of different price points. We reviewed a pair from their Tiesto range earlier this year and were impressed with the price vs performance ratio of them. The Australian firm is now launching their first over-ear headphone with the AF240 model, the little brother of the AF250 that was teased way back during CES 2015. The AF240 will be available to order starting today, and they have some interesting features that set them apart from their competitors.
Starting with the headband, Audiofly have put together a self-adjusting headband that automatically fits to your head, without the need for adjustable bands and such. This helps make them lighter as well as easier to put on and get going with. Then there’s the cable, which is a fabric cord that features Audiofly’s Audioflex technology that uses Cordura cord to ensure no lose connections or breakages over time. On to the sound and these feature a 40mm single-membrane neodymium driver with a frequency response of 20 – 20,000 Hz and an impedance of 16 Ohm. Striking the right balance between being an over-ear pair and something portable, these are closed-back making them safe to wear on the commute and they do feature larger ear cups than some to seal the outside world away. The memory foam ear pads work together with the ear cups to isolate up to 20 dB of noise from the outside as a result. The Audiofly AF240 are available to order today from $249.99 and will feature a wax canvas carrying case as well as an in-line mic and controls that should work fine with Android devices. As for colors, they will be available in either the black pictured here or the vintage white that will be available later on. While not the cheapest pair of headphones out there, Audiofly certainly know how to create a good sound and with noise isolation included here, these could be a good pair to consider for the daily commute.
