Food Delivery Service UberEats Gets Its Stand-Alone App

It’s no secret that Uber wants to expand their business focusing on delivery services using a similar model to the one currently used for their cab services. The logistics and delivery plans for the company are currently known as UberEverything and it includes projects like UberRush, which lets their drivers deliver various articles based on the mobile shopping app Spring, and UberEats, which is a food delivery service from some of the most popular restaurants. Drivers can deliver these products while taking users to several destinations, so they can be even more productive. UberEats is currently available in 12 cities, offering a specific menu from up to three restaurants to choose from. This service is accessible from the regular app, but now, Uber is launching a stand-alone app for this service.

The UberEats app is currently available for iOS users only and it will be available in Toronto at first. Users in that city will be able to order whatever they like from the full menus of over 100 different restaurants. The service will be available from 10 am to 10 pm seven days a week, and deliveries are free for the rest of 2015. The Instant Delivery service is available at lunch, letting users get their food as soon as 10 minutes after their order was placed, although there’s a cost for this service. Some restaurants in Toronto like Porchetta & Co., Electric Mud and Fresh have benefitted from partnering with UberEats, allowing them to extend their reach and thus, making their business grow. Restaurants can trust that Uber’s delivery network will deliver more meals to more customers in a quick way. If you know a certain restaurant that could be interested in using UberEats, you could send them a signup form, to let them know the benefits and help them get started.

UberEats is currently competing with similar services from tech companies like Seamless and Postmates, which have been available for a while, plus other companies like Amazon and Square have launched food delivery services more recently. This service could be launched in additional cities and the mobile app could be available in more platforms if it becomes successful in Toronto, although no further plans have been officially announced just yet.
