Gionee is a China-based smartphone manufacturer which has announced several interesting devices this year. Earlier in the year, the company has showcased their Elife E8 flagship phablet, and the Marathon M5 big battery mid-ranger. These two handsets were showcased at the same event, and a couple of weeks ago, Gionee has launched the Marathon M5 Lite smartphone. That being said, the third ‘Marathon’ devices has been announced yesterday in China, the Marathon M5 Plus.
Now, as I’ve already mentioned, the Marathon M5 Lite has already been made official by Gionee in China, but the device might arrive to India soon as well. The Marathon M5 Lite has popped up on Zauba’s listing, which is an India-based import / export service. Now, the listing does say the value of this handset, but you cannot take that as a guideline for its price, because the final price will certainly going to be significantly different than this, but either way, you can expect this phone to be quite affordable. The Marathon M5 Lite is priced at the equivalent of $154 in China, so you can expect a slightly higher price point in India.
The Marathon M5 Lite features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, 1GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). This smartphone is powered by MediaTek’s MT6735 64-bit quad-core processor running at 1.3GHz, and a 4,000mAh unit is available on the inside. The battery of this device is actually one of its main selling points, this 4,000mAh unit should be able to keep you going for quite a while. The 8-megapixel snapper can be found on both the front, and back side of this handset, and the phone also offer dual-SIM and 4G LTE support. Android 5.1 Lollipop ships out of the box here with Gionee’s Amigo UI 3.0 installed on top of Google’s OS. The Marathon M5 Lite is ‘only’ 8.5mm thick, which doesn’t exactly make it the thinnest phone around, but you have to keep in mind that it packs a 4,000mAh unit on the inside. That’s more or less it, the device is expected to launch in India, soon, stay tuned.
