Huawei has had an immensely successful year. This China-based smartphone manufacturer has released a number of handsets this year, and their Mate 8 flagship phablet is quite probably the most notable one. The company has also released the Android Wear-powered smartwatch, the Huawei Watch. Along with these two devices, they’ve also introduced a number of additional low, mid and high-end devices throughout the year, like the Honor 5X mid-ranger which we’ll talk about in just a sec.
That being said, a new report has surfaced and shed more light on Mate 8 and Honor 5X launches in the US. According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Huawei will actually show off their Mate 8 and Honor 5X handsets during CES 2016 in January. The report also says that Huawei plans to release both of these devices in the US shortly after CES, which is a smart move considering people were quite impressed with the Nexus 6P in the US, and this might be the right time to launch additional handsets. These two handsets are not the only piece of tech Huawei intends on introducing during CES, according to a recent report, the new Huawei Watch is also in the cards, a special model designed for women. Anyhow, both the Honor 5X and Mate 8 are already available for purchase in Huawei’s homeland, and their pricing starts at $500 and $150, respectively. Don’t take these prices as a guideline if you live in the US, of course, you can expect them to be somewhat bigger.
The Huawei Mate 8 is made out of metal, and it sports a 6-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS-NEO LCD display. The 16-megapixel OIS camera is available on the back of this phablet, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed here with Huawei’s Emotion UI available on top of it. Huawei’s all-new Kirin 950 SoC powers this handset. The Huawei Honor 5X, on the other hand, is also made out of metal, and it sports a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 615 processor, and it packs in a 13-megapixel camera on the back. The phone ships with either 2 or 3GB of RAM, and has 16GB of internal storage.
