For those of you that go on a run every day or maybe every other day, Runkeeper is a great app to check out. We recently featured it in our Top 10 Apps for Runners, as it’s a great app to track your run, as well as your pace. Runkeeper was updated today to version 6.0 and brings a refreshed design as well as some new iconography in the app. The developers have stated that the “refreshed Runkeeper brand is all about making running more inclusive, welcoming, and fun, so more people can get into this awesome sport. Soooo we’ve completely redesigned the app to reflect just that!” And the new design definitely does support that. This isn’t the first iteration of material design for Runkeeper, but it is an evolution of it.
With the Runkeeper app, it can use the GPS on your phone to see where you are running and place it on the map. Really good for those that are training for a marathon. Additionally, you can see your pace for each mile you’ve run as well as the distance you’ve run so far that day (on another screen, you can see the total distance you’ve run for every run you’ve recorded with Runkeeper). In this update, Runkeeper has also gotten rid of the tabs in the app, and replaced it with a slide-out menu. Where you can access everything that the app has to offer. A bit sad that Runkeeper released this at the end of fall and in the winter, when most of us won’t be running as often since it’s colder (well depending on where in the world you live).
According to the changelog put out by Runkeeper there are no other changes in this update, other than the refreshed design. There are likely plenty of bug fixes though, as those always make it into app updates, even if they aren’t noted on the changelog. The update is already live on the Google Play Store, so you can grab it if you’d like to take Runkeeper out for a run or two. Its a great companion to make you run further and faster.
