LG is one of the most popular smartphone manufacturers in the world, and the company has released a couple of really compelling devices this year. First two devices that come to mind are the LG G4 and the LG V10, both of which are high-end devices. The G4 was announced back in April as the company’s new flagship smartphone, while the V10 was unveiled a couple of weeks ago, and it’s an even more powerful device which sports a secondary display. The V10 represents a new concept for LG, as did the LG G Flex back in 2014 when it was announced. Speaking of the G Flex, the second iteration of that handset was also announced this year, back in January during CES in Las Vegas.
That being said, new info surfaced regarding all of the aforementioned devices. well, their successors that is. According to a report from South Korea, LG will not unveil the G Flex 3 at CES, and might actually not release it at all in 2016. That is interesting and not that surprising actually, the G Flex 2 was rather well received, but the device didn’t really sell as well as LG has hoped it will, and the Snapdragon 810 certainly didn’t help. The report also claims that LG plans to unveil the LG G5 in April, as planned, and the LG V10’s successor will arrive in the second half of 2016. Now, we still don’t know what will LG name the V10’s successor, but the first name that comes to mind is V20, though we don’t know how probable that is. So, all in all, LG G5 and LG V10’s successor will arrive as planned, while the G Flex 3 is still a mystery, but it seems like it won’t be announced at CES 2016.
LG’s flagship devices have been quite popular in 2015, and the company has been selling their lower-end offerings as well, but the sales number aren’t exactly as high as the company has hoped. Huawei has managed to strive this year, and that China-based company is currently the third largest smartphone OEM out there. LG will certainly try to improve upon their results this year, and it remains to be seen what will they announce. One thing is for sure, we can expect some significant improvements when it comes to the company’s flagship ‘G’ line, and the V10’s successor is still a complete mystery. LG will almost certainly use metal when it comes to G5’s build, and as far as other specs go, we’ll just have to wait and see.
