The capabilities of modern smartphones are increasing by the day thanks to improvements in hardware technology and the ingenuity and resourcefulness of developers working on the software side of things. However, amidst all these improvements and the abundance of features in present-day mobile phones, battery life has continued to remain one of the sore points for most users of these ubiquitous and quintessentially twenty-first century gadgets. It was with this complaint from the average smartphone buyer in mind that Apple had launched an extended battery pack for its iPhone 6 and 6S not so long ago. In fact, it was just last week that the Cupertino, California-based company had unveiled its first-ever official battery case that apparently increases the talk time of the smartphones to 25 hours.
While the contraption may prove to be a useful addition for heavy users, it got mixed reviews on reputable platforms, where reviewers generally agreed that the design-language was decidedly unappetizing, to say the least. Now, it turns out that two Android OEMs are taking the opportunity to highlight the hardware features of a couple of their own devices that apparently come with better battery life without the unseemly bump that’s present on Apple’s battery case. While Taiwanese firm Asus and South Korean manufacturer LG have both chosen to light-heartedly ridicule Apple’s latest attempt at accessory design, the two companies chose to use the occasion to showcase completely different features of their respective devices.
Coming to Asus first, the company posted the following message on microblogging site Twitter through its verified account: “You don’t need that extra pack when you have the maximum power in one. #ZenFone #Max”. The text is accompanied by a press render of the company’s ZenFone Max smartphone, which sports a gigantic 5,000 mAh battery that reportedly gives as much as 37 hours of talk time, as per the company’s claims. LG’s Jordan unit meanwhile, decided to take to the same microblogging platform to let everybody know about the Quick Charge 2.0 feature in its latest premium handset, the V10. “A moment of silence for those experiencing a bumpy ride. Life’s Good. #TheHump #LGV10”. While the company was comparatively more subtle with its dig, that first hashtag probably gave the game away, but the company would have wanted nothing less anyways.
