About a month ago, we told you that Mexico was getting a slightly improved version of Motorola’s Moto G that got released this year. It was called Moto G Turbo Edition and it was recently released in that country. Now, it seems that Motorola is about to launch this phone in India, as they have been teasing it in their official Twitter account since the weekend. All of the hints point to that particular device and apparently it will become officially announced on Wednesday.
The hints started appearing last weekend and they all include the hashtag #TurboMode. The first one reads “Dance in the rain. Leave the worrying to us. We’ve got your back”, so it’s referring to the IP67 that makes this phone water and dust resistant. Shortly after, they posted another one that read “Stay restless. Unchain and step outside fearlessly”, so they’re talking about the Quick Charge 2.0 capabilities of the Snapdragon 615 that powers up this device, in fact, the new octa-core processor is one of the biggest changes compared to the regular version of the Moto G. On Saturday, they posted “Live the moments. We’ll make sure you relive them forever”, let’s remember that the new Moto G includes the same camera module from last year’s Nexus 6, so it’s much improved over the one from the first and second generation Moto G.
Yesterday, they posted “Explore the world. Time will never be an excuse again”, this would be rather mysterious, but the illustration features some SIM cards, thus referring to the Dual-SIM capabilities of the Moto G Turbo Edition. Today, a different kind of illustration was posted, it shows the charger and a little bit of the device. The illustration contains the phrase “Are you charged up? 3 Days to go”, so Indian customers won’t have to wait too long to hear from this device. Some sites are mistakenly mentioning that the Moto G Turbo Edition features a Full HD display, which would be a nice upgrade for the series, but sadly, confirmed by Motorola Mexico’s site, the resolution stays at 1280 x 720 pixels. So really, the only difference from the regular Moto G is the processor with a better GPU and fast charging capabilities, in addition to the dual-SIM support and the fact that the Turbo Edition features 16 GB of internal memory and 2 GB of RAM. Expect a slightly higher price tag, as well, and this phone is not available through Moto Maker, so the only way to customize it is to change its back plate.
