Android Pay is the latest attempt by Google to bring you over to their way of paying for things using your mobile. Living alongside Google Wallet, Android Pay makes use of NFC to allow customers to pay for goods at various retailers using their smartphone or connected device. Early today, Google announced an expansion of the service which meant that customers could now use Android Pay to pay for goods or features in-app. Essentially, offering consumers the same level of service in an app as they would expect in a store. In addition to that announcement, another announcement also came through earlier today detailing that support for TD Bank has also now been added to Android Pay.
Well, it now looks like they were not the only Android Pay news coming through today, as Google has also started a small promotion for the mobile payments app. The promotion is nothing too grand and in fact, Google refer to as “our way of saying thanks“. In short, if you use Android Pay during the holidays, Google will give you a $20 Best Buy e-gift card to spend. So while nothing spectacular, it is also nothing to be sniffed at.
There are a couple of caveats however, and the biggest is that you do need to make a purchase using Android Pay with a Nexus device. If you do not have a Nexus device and use Android Pay, you won’t receive the free e-gift card it seems. In addition, purchases do need to be made by December 31st. Last up, this does seem to only be open to U.S. residents. In terms of the actual gift card though, it couldn’t be easier. There is nothing on your end that you need to do to claim the gift card. The promotional page details that once you make a purchase, the e-gift card will automatically be credited to your Android Pay account. Although, it could take up until January 31st before the gift card shows up for some users. Those interested can find out more by heading over to the promotion page through the source link below.
