Nova Launcher Beta Adds Actions For Google Now In New Update

Most people are aware that one of Android’s beloved features is the capability to customize the interface in an unparalleled fashion compared to other operating systems, and Nova Launcher is arguably one of the most popular tools to help make an Android device unique in UI style tailored to a user’s personal tastes. Nova Launcher continues to be one of the best options out there for homescreen replacement applications as they not only constantly offer new and exciting features to users, but they also have a beta version of the app which allows some to be at the bleeding edge of those new and improved functions. Today, Teslacoil Software has just sent the most recent update to Nova Launcher Beta to bring in some new features and improve on the existing experience.

First off this means that sometime in the near future users of the stable and non-beta version of Nova Launcher should be seeing these same features, so if you enjoy Nova but prefer to stay away from the beta stuff, look out for these down the road. When it comes to the beta users, they now have access to things like Nova Actions for Google Now and screen lock, as well as a new fast scroll feature in the long list. Teslacoil has also improved the handling of the double tap gesture and optimized the time it takes to start up Nova Launcher upon powering on or resetting a device.

Other notable tweaks include fixes to both the widget placeholder after restoring a backup that’s been made using Titanium Backup (this will only matter to root users as Titanium Backup is a root only app) and the persistent search bar, which some users saw placement moving downward over a more prolonged period of time. There are a few other fixes which have been added into this latest beta release, including another one aimed at root users who are on Marshmallow and have been experiencing slower than normal expansion of the notification shade when they go to pull it down. The update should already be live in the Play Store so beta users can simply move their my apps list to start the update process to grab the new changes.
