Trust Samsung Electronics to find ways of promoting its products in unique and high-voltage ways. With the Holiday season upon us, the South Korean multinational consumer electronics major came up with an ingenious way to showcase its latest premium tablet, the Galaxy Tab S2, which is a successor to the Galaxy Tab S from last year. As a way to promote its latest tablet, the company unveiled what it calls the “world’s first upright piano made entirely of Samsung tablets” at Spitalfields Market in London, England. The piano, made with over 100 Galaxy Tab S2s, was unwrapped by British singer, actress, reality star and model, Ms. Myleene Klass, whose biggest claim to fame was as a member of the now-defunct British girl band, Hear’Say.
Something most readers outside the UK may not be aware of is that Ms. Klass is apparently also a classically trained pianist, and having unveiled the piano, the mother of two actually proceeded to play a tune or two on the creatively designed instrument, commenting on how her youngest daughter, four year old Hero, had just learned Jingle Bells, and would love to try it on the piano she had just helped unveil. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Conor Pierce, Vice President of IT & Mobile at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, said, “Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S2 has been designed for those who want a tablet that is ultra slim and lightweight; ideal for helping you explore new content wherever you are, even if that means right in the middle of the bustling Spitalfields market”.
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S2 is the latest tablet offering from Samsung, and comes in two different screen sizes – an 8-inch one and a 9.7-inch one. Both variants are powered by an Exynos 5433 processor, which is designed, developed and manufactured in-house by Samsung and contains an integrated octa-core CPU. The tablet comes with 3 GB of RAM and either 32 or 64 GB of internal storage, with microSD card slots for capacity expansion. As for connectivity options, the Wi-Fi-only variants as well as those with LTE support, come with dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi Hotspot. The device also supports Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, A-GPS and GLONASS and has a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data syncing. The Tab S2 comes with an 8-megapixel camera on the rear and a 2.1-megapixel camera on the front. The battery on the larger device is a hefty 5,870 mAh unit, while the smaller device carries a battery that’s rated at 4,000 mAh.
