There has been a decent amount of movie and TV news of late. It was only earlier today when it was reported that Yahoo has released a new app which is designed to assist users in finding movie content. The app works by searching all the streaming services available and providing you with quicker links to the title you want. Following on from that news and it now seems that Google is in the process of sending out an update to their own Play Movies & TV app.
Although, the update does not bring with it anything too substantial, the features included are ones which will be of use to those who watch TV shows frequently and are all settings based ones. The most useful of which are some new notifications that are now included. The first of the notifications is designed to keep you informed of when new episodes of certain shows becoming available. So if you already own any shows (and Google knows that you do i.e. they are linked to your Play account), the notification will tell you when a new episode or entire series of that show becomes available. The second notification works much along the same lines, although instead of telling you when a new episode is available, if you have shows in your wishlist, the notification will tell you when they become available to watch or even better, when they drop in price. There are also a number of other minor improvements like the ability to turn off binge watching if you prefer shows to end at the end of an episode and require you to physically start the next one. As well as improvements in playback.
In terms of the update, this one will bring your Play Movies and TV up to version 3.10 and is already being listed on the Play Store. As such, you should start to see the update landing on your version of the app soon enough. If you would prefer to push the update to your device manually now, then you can by grabbing the APK from the link below and sideloading to your device as normal.
