As 2015 draws to a close, it’s time that we look back on the year that was, as well as look ahead to what 2016 has to offer. One of the best ways to gauge what the year ahead has in store for the world of tech is of course the Consumer Electronics Show, held every year during the first week of January in Las Vegas. CES 2016 is already shaping up to be a big deal in the world of tech, and while it might not be a mobile-focused event like Mobile World Congress is, there have been some surprises over the years. CES 2013 saw the release of the original Sony Xperia Z, and just this year during CES 2015 we saw the ASUS ZenFone 2 and LG G Flex 2 be announced. Now, Samsung has announced their plans for CES 2016.
Samsung themselves have come out and publicly announced their plans for next year, with a January 7th press event to be held during CES 2016. It appears that the keynote itself will be all about IoT, the Internet of Things, and how Samsung are planning to take on the ever-growing market of connected devices and to once again tackle the idea of the “smart home”. The invitation has a tagline of “In Sync With Real Life” which presumably means that Samsung has found some more natural ways of getting IoT into people’s lives.
We’ll be there to see just what Samsung has in-store for the year ahead, and while it seems as though Samsung will be focusing on IoT, there’s a chance that they’ll have something mobile in-store for us all as well. Besides, CES has always been a great place to take a look at upcoming hardware in the entertainment world, such as high-end audio as well as new TVs. No matter what aspect of technology you’re into, there’s often a little something for everyone at CES, and we’ll of course be keeping an eye out for all the mobile news and launches that we can see. Samsung has had a good year, with the launch of the Galaxy S6 and more recently the Gear S2, so it’s going to be interesting to see how they kick off 2016.
