Spotify Launches Your Most Listened to Music of 2015

Believe it or not, we have just a few weeks left of 2015, before we turn the calendar over to 2016. Which means we are seeing every company doing their “year in review” type features, Google posted the best apps, games, music, movies, etc on the Google Play Store for 2015 last week, Twitter did their best tweet moments of the year last night and today it’s Spotify’s turn. However, Spotify is doing something a bit different. Spotify is doing “YOUR Year in Music”, last week they announce the year in music for the whole world, but now you can check out your own year in music and see what you listened to this year.

The Year in Music shows the top 5 artists you listened to this year, starting at the beginning of the year all the way to the end of the year. It also plays the song you streamed most. For me, the first song was Flo Rida, which Spotify says I streamed 295 times. Followed by Eminem, Big Sean, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj. Now obviously your’s is going to look a bit different – even more different if you don’t listen to Rap or Hip Hop. It’s a pretty cool tool here that allows you to see how your music taste has changed over the past 12 months, and even revisit some of the more popular songs, at least to you, from earlier on in the year. The website from Spotify does take a bit to load, especially if you’re on a slower connection, seeing as it will be streaming parts of songs for each of the five artists in the top 5. So do keep that in mind.

You can compare this to the global year in music which is broken down by country. In the US, Drake was number 1, followed by the Weeknd, Kanye West, Ed Sheeran and Eminem in the top 5 for 2015. Spotify has been the king in streaming music for quite a while, so they do have a good number of users listening to all types of genres and artists. Interesting to see these artists being the most popular in the US.
