Xiaomi has recently announced two new devices, the Redmi Note 3 smartphone and Mi Pad 2 tablet. Both of these are quite compelling devices, but most of you are probably wondering when will the company announce their new flagship, the Mi 5. That smartphone was supposed to arrive back in July but Xiaomi has opted to postpone its launch and wait for an appropriate SoC which will fuel it. It seems like the company is waiting for the Snapdragon 820 to become available, and that will happen at the beginning of next year. Speaking of which, the latest rumors have said that the Mi 5 will arrive in early 2016, so it definitely adds up.
That being said, we haven’t seen a proper Mi 5 leak showing the device itself in quite some time now, so today’s leak is very welcomed, especially if it’s legit. If you take a look at the provided image, you’ll get to see a mysterious Xiaomi-branded device which could easily be the Mi 5. This smartphone does resemble the Xiaomi Mi Note, but this phone actually has way thinner bezels, and it looks sleeker through and through. We, of course, cannot confirm this is the upcoming Mi 5, but Xiaomi’s CEO said that he’s been using it for a while now, so the device is definitely out there, in Xiaomi circles.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is said to sport a 5.2-5.5” display along with 3/4GB of RAM and will be available in a number of internal storage variants. The phone will most probably be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, even though MediaTek’s Helio X20 deca-core SoC has also been mentioned several times now. The Mi 5 will almost certainly going to be made out of metal, and it will come with either Android Lollipop or Marshmallow pre-installed with the company’s Android-based MIUI OS available on top of Google’s operating system. The Mi 5 will be Xiaomi’s new flagship, but despite that we don’t expect it to cost all that much, at least compared to the competition That is pretty much it, all we can do at this point is wait and see what happens next, we’ll probably see more leaks before the phone gets announced by the company, stay tuned.
