A couple of upcoming Xiaomi smartphones have popped up on the website of China’s telecom equipment certification center, TENAA. While both the devices only come with identifying model numbers rather than their commercial names, posts on Chinese social networking site Weibo apparently suggest that at least one of the devices will be marketed commercially as the Redmi 3, but that assertion could not independently verified. There’s no indication however, as to what could possibly be the final commercial name for the other handset, which comes with a display panel that’s bigger than the device said to be the third-generation Redmi handset in the making. As for the model numbers, while the first device is listed as the Mi 2015811, the second one comes with the moniker Mi 2015812.
Coming to some of the hardware specs that can be ascertained from the TENAA listing, the Mi 2015811 will feature a 5-inch HD display (1280 x 720), and will be powered by an octa-core, 1.5 GHz CPU of unspecified make. The device will have 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage out of the box, and will come with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-loaded. As for the cameras, the rear-facing shooter will either have a 13-megapixel or an 8-megapixel sensor, while the front-facing camera will be of the 5-megapixel variety. The device will weigh 143 grams, have a thickness of 8.5 mm, and will be offered in three different color options – Silver, Gray and Gold. The handset will support LTE connectivity, alongside Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB.
Coming to the second device (Mi 2015812) to have been listed on TENAA’s website, it will sport a larger, 5.5-inch display with a Full HD (1920 X 1080) resolution, and is said to be powered by a hexa-core CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz. While the SoC hasn’t been specified in this case either, media speculations indicate that the chip could well be the Snapdragon 808, although there’s no way to know that for sure. The RAM and storage, again, come in at 2 GB and 16 GB respectively, while there’s also the exact same uncertainty regarding the rear camera, as with the smaller device. Meaning, it could either carry a 13-megapixel sensor or an 8-megapixel one. Meanwhile, the front-facing camera will be a 5-megapixel one, just like the other device.
Also, like the smaller handset, this one too will have Android 5.1.1 Lollipop as it operating system of choice, will have the same connectivity options and will come in the exact same color options. Where it will however differ from the smaller device is its weight and size specifications. Because of its larger screen size, it will have a tad more heft, weighing in at 166 grams. As for thickness, it will measure 8.69 mm. As is the case with most TENAA listings, quite a few images of either devices are available, which can be seen in the gallery below.
