CyanogenMod 13 Nightlies Reportedly Come With New Camera App

Whether you are new to the world of alternate Android ROMs or are a seasoned veteran, chances are you are familiar with CyanogenMod. If you are of the latter group, the seasoned pros, then you will be well-versed in CyanogenMod, while if you are of the newer persuasion, then with CyanogenMod being the almost default alternate ROM to try, this is likely to be the first of the ROMs that you will encounter.

Either way, for those who like to live on the bleeding edge of CyanogenMod, this normally equates to the various nightlies that are on offer. The benefit of a nightly is that you get to see and make use of all the latest features that are available to Android. As these now come in the form of a CM13 nightly, the features are all relevant to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). Which also means this is a great way to get Marshmallow running on your device now, instead of waiting for your carrier or manufacturer to push the update through. In fact, it was only earlier today when it was reported that the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet has now seen its support for CM13 going live in nightly form.

Well, on a more widespread note, it now seems that the latest nightlies for devices are coming with a new camera app. According to reports, the new camera app, Snap, replaces the stock camera app which was included before and the new one comes based on the Snapdragon camera app. In terms of functions and again based on reports, the Snap camera app is one which is still rather basic, although it does come with many of the base elements that you might expect – like the ability to adjust white balance, exposure and so on. It is also being said, that it is far more responsive than the stock camera app that had been in place. However, as this is a new addition and knowing the nature of CM nightlies, it is likely that the app will see improvements and added features over time. If you are already running the latest nightly for your device, then the chance are you have already seen the Snap camera app being added, as it is being reported that all nightlies following January 10th include the new Snap camera app.
