Google already has a number of Twitter handles, which are used for announcing new features, hardware, as well as promoting their services. For instance the Android Developers Twitter page often times will tweet out new blog posts on their Android Developers blog, including new features, new releases and much more. And now, Android Wear has joined in the fun, so you’ll be able to get all of your Android Wear news, tips and how to’s in one spot. They joined Twitter using the handle @Android Wear and tweeting:
“5, 4, 3, 2, 1… Launch time. Watch this space for #AndroidWear fashion, fitness & fun! âžž https://goo.gl/ylMXdU”
The Android Wear Twitter handle will likely promote the different smartwatches available using the platform, as well as different features and watch faces. So far they haven’t tweeted anything else, and in the three hours since that tweet, they’ve already gained 5,000 new followers. Which is pretty staggering. Although not as staggering as when President Obama opened his Twitter account @POTUS.
There are a variety of Android Wear watches already available (and a few new ones announced at CES last week in Las Vegas). We have the Samsung Gear Live, LG G Watch, G Watch and Watch Urbane, Sony’s Smartwatch 3, Motorola’s Moto 360, Moto 360 2nd Gen, and Moto 360 Sport, as well as many others. Casio announced their own Android Wear smartwatch last week, Tag Heuer also has a Smartwatch out, and is currently the most expensive Android Wear smartwatch. Android Wear was announced almost two years ago, and later officially launched at Google I/O 2014 in June. It’s a great platform and one that’s growing each and every day. With new apps, new watch faces and even new smartwatches.
You can follow @AndroidWear on Twitter here. There’s no telling what they will Tweet, but definitely worth a follow. It’ll likely be your first stop for any news regarding Android Wear, although you should probably follow @AndroidHeadline first. You can also follow the other Google accounts on Twitter, including @Android @GoogleNexus and the many others. Always available for customer service as well, which seems to be a pretty popular thing on Twitter these days.
