AnTuTu Lists Most Benchmarked Phones of 2015

The widely used AnTuTu benchmarking software for Android is arguably the most popular benchmark on the scene right now, having stolen the spotlight from Quadrant a few years back. When a new phone surfaces, in most cases, you can bet that AnTuTu will be the first benchmark to put it through its paces and sometimes even leak the specs. AnTuTu is also used in most phone reviews. Such was the case with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 2, Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and many others. As such, the most benchmarked Android phones according to AnTuTu could reasonably be taken as a rough indicator of the most popular phones. On that note, AnTuTu has published a list of the top phones to make repeat appearances worldwide.

On the world stage, the Samsung Galaxy S6 topped the charts, followed closely by the Galaxy Note 5. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3 pulled out a surprise win for the third spot, followed by its slightly more premium brother, the Xiaomi Note. The LeTV 1S nabbed fifth place. The Meizu MX5 got sixth, just beating out ASUS’ widely-loved ZenFone 2, which ended up in a Meizu sandwich when the Meizu Pro 5 got itself into eighth place. Huawei scooped up ninth place with the venerable Huawei Mate 8, leaving Xiaomi to round out the countdown with the Xiaomi 4c. The worldwide average, skewed by bigger markets, shows a definite drop-off for brands that are popular in emerging markets, such as XOLO.

The regional stats reflect local flavors a bit better than the worldwide chart. For example, the stats for mainland China place the juggernaut Samsung Galaxy S6 completely out of the running, while the fairly humble Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 tops the charts, followed by other local flavors such as the LeTV 1S and the Xiaomi 4C. Samsung does make an appearance, but it’s the productivity-focused Galaxy Note 5 and it’s in fourth place. Korea, on the other hand, shows some serious Samsung love, while the US chart is dotted by Nexus devices, with the Nexus 6P and Nexus 6 scoring the second and third spots respectively. India is dominated by the OnePlus 2 and some budget pieces like the Moto G Turbo, but Samsung’s Galaxy S6 does manage to check in at the number four spot like its larger brother did in China.
